The band formed as an evolution from an earlier band, Hybryd, and formed in St. Albans, England in 2003. All four members are from St. Albans.
Enter Shikari secured a spot on the Gibson/MySpace stage at 2006's Download Festival. They have also had interviews with popular music press such as Kerrang! and Rock Sound. On November 4, 2006, they became only the second unsigned band to ever sell out London Astoria (the first being The Darkness).
Their first physical single was a double A-side of re-recorded versions of "Sorry You're Not A Winner" and "OK Time for Plan B", released on October 30, 2006 which was limited to 1000 copies of each format. In late 2006, despite many huge offers from major labels, the band announced that they had decided to 'go it alone' on their own label, Ambush Reality, with assistance from their distributor Vital.
In January 2007, Enter Shikari came 5th in BBC online's "Sound of 2007" poll, which compiles the views of numerous music critics on who they predict will achieve success in 2007. They also made the NME's "New Noise 2007", a list of the bands it considers most likely to achieve success in the coming year (previous years lists have included the likes of Arcade Fire, Hot Chip and Bloc Party). The band have played a set, and were interviewed, for the fourth edition of the radio version of The Tube.
In mid-January 2007 (week ending 13 Jan 2007), Enter Shikari's first single, "Mothership", entered the UK singles chart for one week at number 151, on Downloads only. This was followed a week later (Week ending 20 Jan 2007) by "Sorry You're Not a Winner/OK Time for Plan Btry to feel someone heart,", which charted at number 182 on the singles chart (despite its physical formats not being eligible for charts [at the band's request]) and number 146 in the Download Chart.
In June 2009 Juggernauts was released as a single reaching #28 in the UK Official Charts. Also they have seen the release of their second album Common Dreads on June 15 2009. The second single, No Sleep Tonight, became their 3rd most successful single reaching #63.
Bring Me the Horizon began in 2004 with members of many defunct bands from around their local area. They acquired their name based on a line taken from the film Pirates of the Caribbean , in which Captain Jack Sparrow shouts "Now... Bring me that horizon." After slightly altering the original line, by simply changing 'that' to 'the', Bring Me the Horizon then became the official name of the band.
They are currently signed to Visible NoiseRecords, but were originally signed to Thirty Days of Night Records and were the first band to be signed to that label. The band are also signed to Epitaph Record in the US and to Shock Records in Australia. They released their debut album Count Your Blessingin October 2006 in the Uk and in August 2007 in the United States. They have toured in the past with bands such as Lostprophets, The Blackout; Killswitch Engage and The Haunted[8]. They performed a headlining tour of the UK during March and April 2007 with the now defunct metalcore band I Killed the Prom Queen. They played Download Festival 2007 in June also with Iron Maiden, Slayer, and others.They also played the North American leg of the tour, including a guest appearance Travis McCoy from Gym Class Heroes on August 6 in Calgary. He joined Oli in chanting the start of their song "Diamonds Aren't Forever".
In November 2007 they toured on the Australian leg of Gigantour, playing three dates. They returned to Australia in May-June 2008, appearing on I Killed The Prom Queen's final ever tour.
